Mitochondrion

As the widely-known "Powerhouse of the Cell", the Mitochondrion seemingly fit the role of Organelle in Chief perfectly. It converts sugar as well as oxygen into energy for the cell to use. But before you make up your mind, let's take a closer look. The mitochondrion does have a downside: mitochondrial diseases. Dysfunction in the mitochondrion of the cell means that it can no longer make energy, therefore the cell cannot function. One link to mitochondrial disease includes signs of autism in children. Think about these negative impacts of mitochondrion before casting your vote this year.
